Becoming a CA
We have designed our program to achieve maximum flexibility for students; we offer varying schedules to respond to differing needs. At the time of registration, we work with you to construct a schedule that will optimize your opportunity to succeed in the program.

For the University-level courses, our academic year consists of fall, winter and summer sessions. Fall and winter courses are completed through correspondence, while summer courses require a paid leave from your everyday duties and are based on a series of lectures. Students generally take one course in each of the fall and winter sessions, and two to three courses during the summer. Summer courses are taught using university facilities in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
For the professional program, courses offered in the summer are completed through lecture (with an internet-based component) and courses offered in the fall, winter and spring terms are internet-based (with a 3 day live seminar at the end of each course). The courses offered in the professional program are integrated and must be taken in sequence. We recruit our faculty of leading academics and practitioners from across the country to ensure that you have access to top calibre educators. The strength of our faculty is one of the primary reasons for our premier reputation.
The chartered accountant designation is the most prestigious accounting designation available. As a graduate you have many career options available to you, whether you follow the traditional route of an exciting career in public practice or branch into other areas such as industry, education or government. Achieving the designation is the key to accessing an exciting variety of career options.
The Uniform Evaluation is the final stage to earning the CA designation. This evaluation is internationally recognized as a pre-eminent professional examination. It is a consistent qualifying evaluation for all chartered accountants and is the primary basis for reciprocity among institutes. The Uniform Evaluation assures our graduates continued opportunities in terms of career flexibility throughout the world. In fact, the uniformity of the process allows an assurance that makes it possible to apply your skills with confidence all over the world. Clearly the designation is a passport to global career opportunities.
ASCA has an enviable record of success in the UFE. In excess of 90% of our graduates qualifying to write the Uniform Evaluation have been successful in achieving their ultimate goal of becoming chartered accountants. This clearly indicates we can provide the resources necessary to help you become a member of this dynamic group of professionals.
